RHINO UTV FUEL GAUGE KIT

Product Overview:
As mentioned in other articles Yamaha left out a few necessary features when designing the Rhino. One of which was the lack of cup holder. Although that may not deem necessary to everyone I felt it was a legitimate feature that could have been added very easily and at minimal cost. Next more important and necessary featuring lacking on the rhino is the lack of a fuel gauge.

Although the Rhino has nearly an 8 gallons tank it may leave you stranded one day unless your very adamant about keeping an eye on your fuel level. That brings me to another point which all Rhino owner are aware of and that's the difficulty of being able to read the fuel level under the passengers seat. In most cases im unable to even make out where the fuel level is on the tank. I find myself pulling the gas cap off and taking a peek inside to get an idea. Needless to say what a pain in the ass. (Fuel Gauge is now offered on the the 07' models)

Kit Contents: Fuel Sending Unit, Sending Unit Gasket, Teleflex red backlight fuel gauge, complete wiring harness and instructions.

Trail Armor recently introduced this fuel gauge kit for Rhino's that installs in a few hours or less. The result, is an adjustable, accurate fuel gauge mounted anywhere on your dash that you can see easily. There fuel sending unit features a anti-slosh shield around it to keep the gauge from moving while your Rhino's bouncing around on rough terrain. Installing the gauge kit took a short time and was pretty much straight forward and easy. Some installation pictures below as the kit was installed.

More Installation & Conclusion:
During the wiring part of the installation we must have overlooked one detail. When we wired our fuel gauge to the Rhino we ran a power source to the gauge that must have been providing power all the time not just in the key-on position. I didn't think much of it until a week later when I realized I drained the battery down enough were it wouldn't start. This little detail has since then been resolved and is working fine now. Oops must have read the directions to fast.

All in all the gauge was easy to install and took us about an hour to complete. The gauge looks clean on the dash and is 100 times easier to read than the dummy level gauge under the seat. At night the gauge glows in red as in the pictures below. We have already looked into adding more gauges my the some manufactures to go along with the fuel gauge.

After the first couple rides you begin to appreciate the luxury of having a fuel gauge and not having to constantly worry about whether or not you should start heading back to camp or home. For those of us 06' and older Rhino owners this product is a great addition to your Rhino and will only set you back $159.00. If I didn't mention it already in a previous Trail Armor review I will now. The wiring harnesses included in each of there kits is color coated with all the connectors already crimped and heat shrinked for an easy and clean installation.
