Odyssey 34-PC1500T

PRODUCT REVIEW

Introduction
With all the lights, electric air compressors, winches, and any other electronics you plan on putting in your rig, one of the most important items to upgrade is the battery. It's going to need it to hold up to a LOT more abuse than what your stock battery is capable of producing. For our JK Project "Black Whole," we decided to go with Odyssey's direct replacement 34-PC1500T. Essentially this is two batteries in one. This thing puts out a really high 880 Cold Cranking Amps! Thats 280 more CCA's than the original battery does. And with its Absorbed Glass Mat (AGM) Dry Cell technology, it can be mounted in any position (except inverted) since there is no acid to spill out. It also has the characteristics of a deep cycle battery at the same time, allowing you to bring the battery back to life from a dead charge without harming the functionality of the battery. Most batteries can only take on one of these tasks but the Odyssey line brings them all together. All this makes it the perfect choice for any offroaders needs.

More Benefits:
Not only does this battery provide more than enough power to the starter when needed, and withstand long power draws between charges, but it does this for 8-12 years! Yes... This battery has a 12 year life span, with a factory replacement warranty for the first 3 years. A typical battery can only be stored for 6-12 weeks without having to be recharged for use, but the Odyssey can be stored for up to 2 years without needing a recharge. And since these batteries are DRY CELL and not Gell Cell or Acid filled, they can be shipped by any carier (ground or air shipping) without having to pay the extra HazMat fee's.

Installation
The installation on this particular battery was very strait forward since it is meant to be a factory replacement. All you have to do is take out the bolt at the base of the factory battery, pull the old battery out, put the new Odyssey 34-PC1500T battery in, and replace the cleat and bolt and your good to go. This mounting system is great because (1) its the factory mounting system so there is no modifiaction needed, (2) there is no bracketry to accidentaly arc accross the terminals or getting in the way, and (3) the way that the cleat holds the battery down is impressively strong! It holds the 50 pound battery down no problem

Conclusion
We are really happy with how well this battery works in the JK. The installation was a breeze and now we have all the power we could ever need without having to modify the battery tray or run new cables. The motor starts faster now, and we dont have to worry about leaving anything plugged in and having it drain the battery to a point that leaves you stranded. This is an excellent addition to the project and we look forward to seeing how this thing holds up over the years!
